As Rosh Hashanah approaches, most people are making resolutions about everything except the one thing that shapes every day that follows: how well they sleep.

Rosh Hashanah is just a few days away.

Most people make resolutions about their career, their finances, their fitness. Almost nobody makes one about their sleep.

But sleep is the foundation everything else stands on. A new year is a natural moment to reset it.

Here are five sleep resolutions worth making this year, especially if you're a man over 50. Choose one of the five.

1. Pick one wake-up time and keep it every day, weekends included. Your body doesn't track the days of the week.

2. Get real daylight within an hour of waking. Ten minutes outside does more for your sleep clock than most supplements ever will.

3. Retire the idea that you can catch up on sleep over the weekend. It doesn't work like a bank account. What you lose during the week stays lost.

4. Build a real wind-down before bed. Not scrolling in the dark — an actual transition: dim lights, no screens, the same few steps each night.

5. Pay attention to what you've quietly started calling normal. If you've stopped expecting to wake up rested, that's not aging catching up with you. That's a habit that can still be changed.

Teshuvah, at its core, is about returning to who you really are. Sleep restoration works the same way — it isn't about chasing something new. It's about working towards returning to the sleep we used to have, before it slipped away one habit at a time.

Which one resonates with you?
